What topic areas are covered in the exam?
There are three main subjects covered in the AQA functional skills maths level 2 practice papers:
- Use of numbers and the number system
- Use of measures, shape and space
- Handling information and data.
The sub-topics within these three main topics won’t all be covered in every exam; however, all three main topics will be assessed. The average pass mark is between 40% and 42%, which is equivalent to 32-33 marks.
It is important to show all the steps and working you have done to get to your answer, as this will be marked in addition to your final answer. The marks for each question are indicative on how long you should spend on each question in relation to each other. The exam may require you to use mathematical instruments, such as: a ruler, protractor and tracing paper.
