Edexcel Functional Skills English Entry Level 1, 2, 3 Past Papers

Edexcel Functional Skills English Entry Level exams are divided into two parts, Reading and Writing. The Reading part of your Functional Skills Entry Level exam analyses your ability to extract information from various types and styles of texts, whilst the Writing exam will require you to select appropriate statements, as well as producing your own texts to demonstrate your spelling, punctuation and grammar.

The split of marks and time in these exams exams is listed below:

  • Entry Level 1:
    • Reading – 45 minutes, 16 marks
    • Reading Pass Mark – 12 marks
    • Writing – 50 minutes, 30 marks
    • Writing Pass Mark – 21 marks
  • Entry Level 2:
    • Reading – 45 minutes, 20 marks
    • Reading Pass Mark – 14 marks
    • Writing – 50 minutes, 35 marks
    • Writing Pass Mark – 24 marks
  • Entry Level 3:
    • Reading – 45 minutes, 24 marks
    • Reading Pass Mark – 17 marks
    • Writing – 50 minutes, 36 marks
    • Writing Pass Mark – 25 marks

For the Edexcel Functional Skills English Entry Level exams, the reading papers allow the use of a dictionary, however the writing papers do not.
