What topic areas are covered in the exam?
In the writing paper it is important that you manage your time correctly. The second question is twice the length of the first, so students are encouraged to spend 20 minutes on the first question and 40 minutes on the second question.
The specification for AQA Functional Skills English Level 2 is split into three sections:
- Reading
- Writing
- Spelling, punctuation and grammar
There are 30 marks available for reading, 18 marks available for writing and 12 marks available for spelling, punctuation and grammar, so out of these skills reading makes up the bulk of the marks.
As well as the reading and writing papers on this website, students completing AQA Functional Skills English Level 2 will also take part in a speaking, listening and communication assessment.
