Open Awards Functional Skills Maths Entry Level 1, 2, 3 Past Papers

The Open Awards Functional Skills Maths Entry Level papers are divided up into two sections: Section A, a non-calculator part equating to 25% of all marks, and Section B, a calculator part worth 75%. Students will require a pen, pencil, ruler and a rubber. Students will also need a calculator for Section B only. The pass mark for Open Awards Entry Level 1, 2 and 3 exams is 75%.

The allocation of  marks and time for each level is::

  • Entry Level 1:
    • Section A – 20 minutes, 6 marks
    • Section B – 60 minutes, 18 marks
    • Total – 80 minutes, 24 marks
    • Pass mark – 18
  • Entry Level 2:
    • Section A – 25 minutes, 7 marks
    • Section B – 60 minutes, 21 marks
    • Total – 85 minutes, 28 marks
    • Pass mark – 21
  • Entry Level 3:
    • Section A – 30 minutes, 9 marks
    • Section B – 75 minutes, 27 marks
    • Total – 105 minutes, 36 marks
    • Pass mark – 27

 

The Open Awards Functional Skills Entry Level 1, 2 and 3 specifications are almost identical to all other Functional Skills Maths Entry Level exam boards, with a focus on three key topics:

  • Using numbers and the number system
  • Measures, shape and space
  • Handling information and data

To pick up the highest amount of marks possible, you should include all workings and methods in your final answer.
