The Functional Skills English Level 2 qualification you receive upon passing our Functional Skills English Level 2 online test is Ofqual-approved. This means the qualification is an official, UK government-recognised certification, equivalent to a GCSE or Level 2 qualification. It is widely accepted by universities, colleges, and employers in the UK as a GCSE equivalent.

After booking your Level 2 English exam online, you can choose any date that suits you and take the Functional Skills English Level 2 online test with as little as 1 day’s notice. Typically, you’ll find discounted exam prices for booking further in advance, similar to booking your holidays.

The resit is free for one of the 3 components if you have selected the ‘exam & course’ option. If you have chosen the ‘exam only’ option, our resit support team will contact you to assist with booking a resit, but there will be a fee to retake the Functional Skills English Level 2 online exam.

We offer fast-track Functional Skills English Level 2 results, so from the day you complete your exam, results are typically delivered within 1-6 working days for TQUK or 6-16 working days for Open Awards. Your results will be sent via email, and if successful, a Functional Skills digital certificate will follow shortly after.

The Functional Skills English Level 2 qualification is recognised by all training providers as a GCSE equivalent and is widely accepted by colleges, universities, and employers.

The pass mark for each paper can vary, as some may be slightly more difficult than others. Generally, the harder the paper, the lower the pass mark, to account for the increased difficulty.

The Functional Skills English exam is split up into 3 sections: Reading, Writing and Speaking, Listening and Communicating (SLC). 

The reading and writing exams are 1 hour each and sat in a 2 hour slot back to back.

The SLC exam is sat as a separate exam on a different day, with other learners on a group video call.
