Yes, it does. Our course includes dedicated sections for Functional Skills English Level 1 Writing, Reading, and Speaking, Listening and Communicating (SLC). These sections cover all the assessment criteria for the Level 1 English exam and are designed to support learners in passing first time.

Some sections of the Level 1 English course are available for free. However, to give yourself the best chance of improvement and access the most useful resources, we strongly recommend upgrading to the full course, as this can significantly increase your chances of passing.

  • Functional skills English reading level 1 exam – 1 hour – You will be given sections of text that you will then have to read and analyse.
  • Functional skills English level 1 writing exam – 1 hour – There will be a series of scenarios to which you have to give long-form answers to.
  • Functional skills speaking and listening level 1 exam –  Around 1 hour  – You will have to discuss topics with other learners

Yes, you can book Functional Skills exams for 2026 and beyond. After booking, you can choose from a wide range of available dates, including dates well into the future. Depending on availability, it is also possible to sit your exam with as little as one day’s notice. Booking further in advance may allow you to benefit from discounted exam prices.
