Unit 1: Reading

The reading part of Entry Level 3 helps students understand why writers create different types of texts, teaches them how to identify main ideas and details, guides them in finding meaning, and supports them in handling challenging vocabulary as they prepare for the exam.

Unit 2: Writing

The writing part of Entry Level 3 focuses on helping students communicate effectively by assessing their audience, using correct punctuation, grammar, and spelling, organising their layout, and linking ideas clearly. It also covers planning, avoiding common mistakes, and preparing for the exam.

Unit 3: Speaking, Listening and Communication

The speaking, listening, and communication (SLC) section of Entry Level 3 guides students in effective communication, including how to respond thoughtfully, ask questions, contribute ideas, and extract key information, all while preparing for the exam.

Yes! The course has been designed to include everything that you need to revise for your entry level 3 exam. If you put in the hard work, then you will see the results and pass your exam on the first attempt.

The course has been designed to be applicable to all exam boards, including Edexcel, City & Guilds, NCFE and Open Awards. All exam boards are based on the same government specification, which is what this course has been based off.

There is no specific answer for this, and depends on your ability, prior revision, and other factors. We recommend 50 hours of study to complete this entry level 3 English course. Some learners will only need 10 hours, some may need more than 50 hours. You can work at your own pace with this self-study course, and pick this up whenever you have free time. However, we recommend doing some at least every week, to make sure it stays fresh in your mind.

All learners have standard access for 1 year, however if you need it for longer then we can extend the amount of time you have access to it free of charge.

Yes, the course includes 3 topic areas: Reading, Writing and Speaking, Listening, & Communicating, that contain multiple topics, each with revision, practice question, and topic test sections.

Entry level 3 is not equivalent to a grade at GCSE, but is a great stepping stone for students to develop their skills, before moving onto the Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.
