Pre-Exam Questionnaire


1. You will download and install the Zoom desktop app. The app must be tested to be fully working prior to your exam.*


2. You will ensure that you have an up-to-date browser downloaded for the exam and understand that Pass recommends the use of Google Chrome.*


3. You will join the Zoom call 15 minutes before your scheduled exam time.*


4. You will have a hard copy of your photographic ID (passport/signed UK photocard driving license/UK Biometric Residence Permit/Citizen Card) ready to show the invigilator.*


5. You understand that no exam will go ahead without the invigilator seeing a hard copy of your photographic ID.*


6. You understand that if you require headphones or hearing aids, you will need to inform Pass Functional Skills at least three days before your exam.*


7. You are aware that wireless devices are not permitted to be used (including headphones, webcams, microphones, mice and keyboards).*


8. You will need a suitable device with a minimum 13-inch screen.*


9. You understand that you cannot take your exam on a tablet or phone.*


10. All Windows PCs must be running Windows 10 or later and have S-mode turned off.*


11. You understand that your internet speed must be at least 10Mb/s download and 1Mb/s upload and that if your connection is too weak for the exam to go ahead, the exam will need to be rearranged and you will incur a fee starting at £24.*


12. You are aware that mobile internet and hotspots are not allowed.*


13. You will make sure that pop-ups are enabled on your device.*


14. You are aware that if you are using a Mac for your exam, you must enable Zoom screen sharing in System Preferences.*


15. You must have a working webcam and microphone which have been tested to be working with Zoom.*


16. If you are sitting a maths exam, you may use a non-scientific calculator. There will be an on-screen calculator available but if you choose to use your own you will need to add all of your workings into the spaces provided on the screen to ensure that these are marked.*


17. If you are sitting an English reading exam, you may use a dictionary. This cannot be a bi-lingual dictionary or a dictionary/thesaurus combination.*


18. You are aware that you must uninstall Grammarly or any other plug-in that could provide assistance during your exam.*


19. You must disable predictive text in your computer settings.*


20. You understand that you will receive your presentation topic for your Speaking, Listening and Communication (SLC) exam by email one week before the exam and that you will need to check your inbox and your spam folder for this.*


21. You are aware that the SLC exam takes place with other learners and that if you fail to attend or prepare, a rearrangement fee will apply, starting from £99.*


22. You understand that the SLC exam is recorded for standardisation by Open Awards and that your photographic ID will not be recorded. If you do not consent to this, you must email help@passfunctionalskills.co.uk at least 3 days before your exam day.*


23. You must acknowledge that Pass Functional Skills is not the exam board and so is not responsible for marking the examinations. Examinations are created and marked by Open Awards.*


24. You understand that the exam must take place in a private room with no interruptions. No one can enter, leave, or remain in the room during the exam (except for approved reasonable adjustments).*


25. You are aware that you will need to remove pets from the room and that this is an exam board requirement to maintain exam conditions.*


26. You understand that the room should be free of posters, books, or visible text on the walls.*


27. You are aware that you should remove/turn off/cover all other technology in the exam room, such as intercoms, wired phones, extra computers, assistive devices (Alexa, Google Home etc) or TVs.*


28. You understand that only one screen is allowed. If you have a second screen, you must unplug or remove it.*


29. You have read and understand the full Exam Instructions PDF that can be found on your dashboard.*


30. You have read and understood the full Terms & Conditions of Pass Functional Skills, including the exam conduct rules, exam rearrangement terms and complaints, appeals and malpractice and plagiarism policies.*
