Functional Skills: Lists Revision

Lists

Lists are an efficient way of showing multiple pieces of information at once. We might refer to information as data.

Identifying Various Types of Lists

Data can be listed in words, numbers or both.

So, for example, in a shopping list, you might see a list of words, i.e.

  • Bread
  • Milk
  • Chicken

In a survey or other data setting, you might see a list of numbers, i.e.

  • 8.7/10
  • 7.6/10
  • 7.9/10

And in a list of products at a shop, you might see a combination of both, i.e.

  • Plain fudge£3.00
  • Chocolate fudge£4.00
  • Honeycomb fudge£5.00

[3 marks]

a) Look down the list until you find mangoes. Read across to find the price: 70 p.

b) Look down the list until you find bananas and oranges. Read across to find both prices: 50 p and 45 p.
