English
The Functional Skills English exam is sat as three separate exams. These exams test three different components: reading, writing, and SLC (speaking, listening and communication). The reading and writing exams take 1 hour each to complete and are typically sat one after the other in a 2 hour slot. The SLC is often sat separately and takes around 2 hours to complete.
Maths
The Functional Skills Maths exam is sat virtually under the supervision of an online invigilator. It takes 2 hours, and is split into 2 parts. The first part is a 30-minute non-calculator section and the second is a 90-minute calculator section. Upon passing your exam you will receive your certification to show that you have achieved your Functional Skills Maths qualification.
