NOCN Functional Skills Maths Level 1 Past Papers
The NOCN Functional Skills Maths Level 1 exam is split into two parts: Section A and Section B. For section A you are not allowed to use a calculator, and it contains 25% of the total marks for the paper. Section B contains 75% of the total marks for the paper, in this section you are allowed to use a calculator. Both sections require the following equipment: a pen, a pencil, a rubber, a ruler, a protractor, a pair of compasses and tracing paper.

What topic areas are covered in the exam?
The NOCN Functional Skills Maths Level 1 exam assesses candidates on the following three topic areas:
- Using Numbers and the Number System
- (Common) Measures, Shapes and Space
- Handling Information and Data
In the NOCN Level 1 qualification, learners are expected to be able to use their knowledge of the specification and apply this to straightforward problems. They will also be required to solve more complex problems, which could require knowledge of multiple mathematical areas, and be expected to make connections between these areas.
