For functional skills English qualifications, there is no dedicated English Language functional skills exam like there is at school. The language part is incorporated within the reading exam, which is one of three exams you would need to sit to achieve the level 2 qualification. The other exams consist of a writing exam, and a speaking, listening and communicating (SLC) exam. The functional skills qualification is designed for adults, so differs to the traditional English Language and English literature subjects at school.

There are different things to consider if you are needing an English level 2 qualification. If you are an adult learner, then we recommend taking the Functional Skills English Level 2 qualification, since you can sit the exam from home, and receive results in as little as 2 weeks after sitting.
